Title : Neuroimaging
by evaluation nerverenovate and neuroplasticity of acupuncture in children with
cerebral palsy
🧠 Overview of
the Study
Dr.
Zhenhuan
Liu presented groundbreaking research on the role of acupuncture
in promoting brain plasticity and nerve repair in children with
cerebral palsy. The study explored how acupuncture impacts white and
gray matter development, motor skills, and cognitive functions
through mechanisms such as apoptosis regulation, neurotrophic factor expression, and synaptic
remodeling.
🌟 Key Findings
·
Large-Scale Clinical Study:
146 brain injury cases and 1,078 cerebral palsy patients were evaluated using ICF motor
function measures, Peabody fine motor skills, Gesell scale, TCD, MRI,
PET/SPECT, and DTI tractography.
·
Significant Improvements:
o
Extracellular space recovery:
92.3% vs 70.8% in controls
o
TCD efficiency:
79.3% vs 51.8%
o
Brain MRI effectiveness:
59.55%, 13.25% higher than control
o
1-year follow-up recovery:
91.3%
o
White matter fiber FA value:
improved after 60 acupuncture sessions
o
Ultrasound brain injury recovery:
86.7%
o
Brain SPECT recovery:
96.4%
·
Functional Outcomes:
Acupuncture promoted motor development, fine motor skills, cognitive abilities, social
adaptation, and self-care, reducing neurological sequelae in
children under six months.
·
Mechanistic Insights:
The therapy supports brain function remodeling, neural compensation,
and synaptic
plasticity, offering a strong foundation for pediatric
neurorehabilitation.
